# Beatmaker Manager

> A free management game about a beatmaker's career, compressed to fit in one evening: 365 days and three hours a day to cook beats, sell and place them, negotiate prices, read contracts and pay the rent. Made by NormaProds, a working beatmaker. Plays in the browser, on phone or computer, in English and French.

Beatmaker Manager is a single-player management game (the shelf of Football Manager or Game Dev Story) about a beatmaker's career. It is free, needs no account or download, has no ads and no purchases, and saves on the player's own device. It is not a music-making app: the player never makes or hears music, they manage the career around it.

## How it plays

- A season is one in-game year of 365 days. Each day gives three hours of work and an energy budget.
- Actions: cook a beat, train a discipline (drums, melody, mixing, sound design), work the room (network), mix for hire, push a drop (paid promotion), sleep.
- Beats are sold non-exclusively (a beat sale, the beat stays in the catalog) or placed exclusively with a tier 3+ artist (a placement, the beat leaves the catalog).
- Prices are negotiated: ask for more and risk the artist walking, or give a friend price and build loyalty.
- Contracts have clauses (advance, share, term, exclusivity, publishing, reversion, audit rights); how much of a contract the player can read depends on their judgement, and a lawyer reads the rest for a fee.
- Weekly charges (rent plus cost of living) depend on the home: a student room, a council flat or a flat of one's own.
- Three missed rents end the career. A gold record, when a track really takes off, is the win. Reaching day 365 ends the season.
- After a season: file it, replay it as Season 1+ with a legacy, or join the Season 2 waitlist.
- The economics are compressed on purpose so a year fits in an evening; the game says so itself.
